Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim got the better of Damodar Higher Secondary, Guddi- Paroda 2-0 to emerge South Goa District Champions in the U-17 Boys Subroto Mukherjee inter school football tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in an exciting final at Government School play grounds, Cuncolim on Wednesday.

Rosary HSS played with intent in the opening period with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem to put the rival defence under pressure. The team from Navelim could have taken the lead but Darren Estibeiro muffed a sitter after he was put on a platter by Cliffton Gonsalves.The teams went into the break with the deadlock prevailing.

Crossing over, Rosary put up an improved performance and started off with a flourish as Eliston Coelho slotted past the rival goalkeeper off a pass from Liston Colaco in the 32nd minute. Spurred by the success, Rosary tormented the rival defense with well-orchestrated raids. In the 40th minute, Liston Colaco scored the insurance goal as he sped past the rival defender and beat the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish.
