Salgaocar FC Juniors demolished CAC, Cansaulim 8-0 in the GFA Under 14 league at Cansaulim Sports Complex on Wednesday. The winners led 6-0 at half time, courtesy hat-tricks from Kenneth Da Costa - coincidentally his third in four games - and Jobern Cardozo; a brace from Amber Rodrigues also helped the cause.

By virtue of this big win, the Greens have won all their four games so far, having scored 34 goals in the process without conceding a single goal.

The Salgaocar lads were off the blocks in a flash and created two very good chances in the first three minutes of play with Amber Rodrigues failing to find the back of the net on both occasions.

They did not have to wait long for the first goal as in the 5th minute of play a delightful exchange of passes between dimunitive midfield sensation Antush Monis, Melroy Borges and Silroy Pereira saw the last named lay the ball for Jobern Cardozo on the edge of the box who in turn cut past a couple of defenders and drilled his shot low into the bottom corner of the net. Meldon Oliveira then saw his powerful shot crash against the underside of the crossbar and rebound back into play after receiving a cross from Melroy Borges.

In the 10th minute, Salgaocar were two goals to the good as a sublime through ball by Antush saw Kenneth get to ball ahead of the keeper to score. Minutes later it was three after Kenneth found the back of the net for the second time in the evening after another fantastic exhibition of passing between himself, Jobern, Amber and Melroy. In the very next minute Kenneth after being put through by Antush very unselfishly played the ball for Amber to easily slot past the hapless Cansaulim keeper.

In the 24th minute of play a sublime piece of close ball control saw Antush beat 4 defenders before eventually winning his team a corner. Off the resultant corner taken by Frazer Edmag, Jobern smashed home after Kenneth had done well to control the ball. In under 60 seconds the Greens scored again as a quick counter saw the ball being played for Amber in the box to bury home.

After the change of ends, the Greens seemed content in playing possession football and kept rotating the ball. Coach Cajetan Fernandes made three first half changes giving the younger boys some playing time. In the 58th minute Jobern scored the goal of the match as he cut past a couple of defenders on the edge of the box after receiving a pass from Samson Castanha and curled one into the far post leaving the keeper rooted to the ground. With a couple of minutes left on the clock, Kenneth scored the final goal of the evening as a long throw-in from Movin Gauncar found its way to him in the box and he made no mistake in calmly slotting home.
