Hosts Sarzora Sports Club defeated Dicarpale Sports Club 4-1 via tie-breaker after a 1-1 draw to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Assumpta Cup 2026 at Sarzora Football Ground on Thursday.
The match began at a slow pace. Sarzora Sports Club took the lead through Rowan Fernandes, who scored with a long-range strike from the edge of the box.
The hosts went into half-time with a 1-0 advantage. Sarzora missed several chances in the second half that could have extended their lead.
Just minutes before full-time, Ajay Raj equalised for Dicarpale Sports Club to take the match into a tie-breaker.
Sarzora then held their nerve to win the shootout 4-1. Successful scorers for Sarzora in the tie-breaker were Rowan Fernandes, On Raikar, Yuvraj and Ryan Fernandes, while Ajay Raj was on target for Dicarpale.
The man of the match award was presented to Amey Govekar of Dicarpale Sports Club by Sir Felix Ferrao, former treasurer of SR Club.
