SC Davorlim beat St Anthony's SC Assolda SC 1-0 to progress in the VM Salgaocar Memorial invitational inter-village football tournament organised by Prime Sports at Dando ground, Benaulim.
Prince Figueredo found the back of the net in the 20th minute with a curling free kick to secure an early lead. Despite Assolda's attempts to regroup and mount a comeback, they struggled to breach Davorlim's solid defence, expertly led by Leuser Raikar.
Davorlim's midfield was anchored by the dynamic duo of Prakas Raj and Jordan Miranda, who contributed significantly to their team's performance. The match showcased the young Davorlim side's skilful gameplay and their ability to capitalise on opportunities.
Chandor Club enter Seamen quarters
Chandor Club marched into quaterfinals of the 48th Chandor Seamen Football tournament after defeating a 7-man Goa Velha Sports Club 2-0 at Chandor ground.
Although playing with just seven men, Goa Velha started with some urgency as Ansel went close to scoring for them in the 11th minute but was denied by a Chandor defender's timely intervention. Chandor Club' s Brivan Dias dribbled past two men and found the Goa Velha net in the 21st minute, 1-0.
The Chandor lads continued to exert pressure and Alreach Peixoto capitalised on a through ball from the flanks in 25th minute to double the lead before the breather, 2-0.
Goa Velha suffered another blow when Joseph Rodrigues suffered an injury in the 43rd minute and was unable to carry on. With only six men left on the field, one less than the minimum required to play the match, the referee ended the fixture with the final whistle in the 43rd minute.
Brivan Dias of Chandor Club was awarded the Man of the Match prize.
