Riding on a fine brace by Schubert Pereira, Youth Club of Manora thrashed Our Lady of Gloria Sports Club, Ilha de Rachol 5-2 in the Salcete Zone GFA's Third Division league at Manora ground, Raia on Tuesday. Youth Club of Manora led 3-1 at the breather.
Both the teams began briskly, creating host of chances early on but failed to find the back of the net.
The deadlock was broken in the 14th minute when striker Albino Pereira slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot. Buoyed by the lead, Youth of Manora upped the ante and got their second goal in the 28th minute when Schubert Pereira beat the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish. Down by 0-2, Gloria Sports Club regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and a minute later Remedious Dias reduced the deficit .Unfazed, Youth Club of Manora went into attacking mode and in the 40th minute, Schubert Pereira struck second time to give his team 3-1 cushion.
Crossing over, Youth Club of Manora continued to dictate terms and enjoyed the better share of exchanges and in the 57th minute, Vellito D'Cruz put the issue beyond doubt when he bulged the net. Clive Miranda inflated the tally for the winners when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish. Gloria Sports Club, however, managed to pull one more back through the boots of Nicholas Vaz at the stroke of final whistle.
