Assagao VP chief poll postponed

A meeting convened to elect the new sarpanch of the seven-member Assagao Panchayat had to be postponed, as no panch member filed nomination for the post of sarpanch.

Only two Panchas, Suvarna Naik and Hanumant Naik, were present for the meeting convened to elect the new sarpanch. As no panch member had filed nomination, the election observer, Sandesh Naik postponed the meeting and the report was submitted to the BDO.

It may be recalled that on January 21, acting sarpanch Priyanka Sangelkar was voted out of office.
