Second Senior Modern Kho-Kho National, organized by Modern Kho-Kho Association of Goa, will be held at Government Sports Complex, Sanguem from November 23 to 25. About 400 participants from across the country will show case their skills in the three-day event.
Goans passionate about kho-kho are expected to turn up in large numbers for the matches which will be played under floodlights. It will be sort of a prelude to the festivities of Shimgo in the state, Sanguem MLA Shubash Phaldesai, who is the president of the kho-kho body said at a press conference in Margao.
Phaldesai said that the new version of the sport has a team of seven members and rules and regulation are designed to make the game faster and relevant in the present day, with a sole aim to take it to the international level. The game is being played on the courts of mats and can be accommodated in indoor stadia also.
The game is played in three sets with two turns of seven minutes. The rules have been simplified and can be readily understood by a layman, which the organisers hope will help to make it popular among the young people around the world.
