The Goa Football Association (GFA), at its executive meeting held in Panaji, has decided to appoint Sesa Football Academy coach Charles Dias as head coach of the State Sub-Junior football team (final round) to be held in New Delhi later this month.
It was reported that eight boys had been selected for the India U-14 national camp, and if selected would be unavailable for the final round.
The members reviewed the performance of the Santosh Trophy team. Appreciating the performance of the team which reached the semi-finals of the Santosh Trophy after a gap of 5 years, and lost in extra time to eventual winners Services by a solitary own goal, the committee assessed the performance.
The Technical Development Plan and the Marketing Plan under the FIFA State Development Plan for the State associations were laid out, and shared with the committee. It was decided to share the same with FIFA and AIFF for their feedback and approval, before implementing the plans.
It was decided to show-cause those players playing in unregistered tournaments, based on credible video evidence submitted by sources. It was also decided to ask all clubs to submit their entry forms well in time.
Adverse publicity to Goa Football Association through wrongful reporting in a section of the media was discussed threadbare. The members condemned the intentional misreporting of clear facts.
The Competitions Sub-Committee will meet with the match commissioners in a joint meeting to chalk out the expected duties for the upcoming season. Plans have already been put in place to chalk out the marketing and planning for the upcoming season with the Goa Pro League and other tournaments expected to undergo major face-lifts.
The committee also set the ball rolling on the women's league by approving the senior women's league for the coming season. A visit by the Tibet women's football team in May was approved and the squad is expected to play with the Goa women's State team.
The matters related to the various protests and appeals filed by clubs were referred to the appropriate sub-committees for decision.
It was also decided to ask all organisers of inter-village tournaments to submit the entry forms of all participating teams before the final approval from GFA was obtained.
