Devesh Anand Naik secured a hat-trick of titles at All Goa Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Mormugao Taluka Chess Association.
Devesh was in sole lead by ½ point ahead of Joy Kakodkar after the penultimate round and needed just another ½ point in the final round to clinch the title. Joy was the only contestant in the final round with 7 points who could stop Devesh as they clashed in the decisive round but the match ended in a draw, handing Devesh a third title in the third edition of Late Venkatesh and Sumati Shanbag Memorial 2022 Trophy organised by MTCA under the aegis of Goa Adhoc Committee at St Threse’s School Hall, Mangoor Hill, Vasco. Reuben Colaco on the 2nd board beat Sairudra Nagvekar to finish second in the roaster with 7.5 pts. Joy and Parth Salvi, also with 7.5 pts, finished 3rd and 4th respectively. AIM Vaz Ethan, Asmita Ray and Tanad Bandodkar scored 7 points to finish 5th, 6th and 7th respectively. Vivaan Ballikar, Thorat Sanjay, Nagvekar Sairudra scored 6.5 to occupy the 8th, 9th, 10th position.
