MARGAO
Siyana Sajaad Sheik emerged as one of the standout performers at the 37th State Aquatic Championship 2026, winning five gold medals and a silver at the Ponda Swimming Pool Sports Complex recently.
Competing in the Girls I-B (Under-17) category, Siyana, a student of Delhi Private School, Dubai, who resides in Mormugao, delivered an impressive all-round performance.
She clinched gold medals in the 200m individual medley, 200m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, and the 4x100m medley relay. She also secured a silver medal in the 100m freestyle.
Her outstanding performance earned her qualification for the 52nd Junior National Aquatic Championship, scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from August 18 to 23, 2026.
Siyana trains under experienced Margao RCC swimming coach Inacio "Netty" Raposo, whose guidance has played a key role in her success.
