Sao Jose de Areal attacked from the start but could not find a decisive opening. Chandor Club created a scare when promising striker Roston Rodrigues picked the ball from Yaniswamy Naik but a rival defender was equal to the task and averted the danger.
Chandor Club broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Leno D'Sa beat the rival goalkeeper with an adroit placement off a Rosly D'Costa assist. Unfazed, and backed by a vociferous home crowd, Sao Jose de Areal went into attacking mode and neutralised the lead when Araison Olveira' snap shot crashed into the net.
Boosted by the equaliser, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club intensified their attacks and Liston Costa's curling shot caught the rival goalkeeper napping to regain the lead. Two minutes before half time, Sao Jose de Areal nearly made it 2-1 but David Colaco's shot was blocked by the rival defender
