A superb second half strike by Llyod Cardozo enabled Snow's Football Academy, Raia to overcome CAC, Cansaulim 1-0 and march into the quarter-finals of South Goa McDowell's No. 1 Yaari Premiere Cup inter village football tournament, organised by Cuncolim Union at Government Village School Playground, Cuncolim on Tuesday.Snow's FA began stronger in the first 20 minutes of the game and had a chance to break the defence of the opposition but striker Flyod Cardozo muffed a sitter as he shot wide with only the rival goalkeeper to beat. At the other end, CAC were resolue at the back and prvented rival forwards from attacking their citadel easily.
As the match progressed, both the teams were in full spate and made their advances into the rival citadel. CAC had a golden chance to surge ahead in the 10th minute when Richard Rodrigues's snap shot missed the target narrowly. After the close move there was little on offer from the CAC, Cansaulim who often found it hard to break the Raia team's defence.
Snow's then came close to scoring midway in the opening session but striker Llyod Cardozo shot wide from handshaking distance much to the dismay of the Raia supporters. Late in the first half, CAC, Cansaulim made another move through Cancio Soares, whose finish though didn't trouble the rival goalkeeper.
Post resumption, growing in confidence, Snow's dominated their opponents with Llyod Cardozo and Melvin Gaunkar combining well at the front. But for all their good work, Llyod and Melvin missed two easy chances. The winner finally arrived in the 39th minute when Lylod slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot off a spot-on pass from Joston Cardozo.
Domnick Soares then had a glorious chance to get CAC, Cansaulim a footing in the match but he failed to get past a rival defender, finding his shot inches away from goal. Joston Cardozo of Snow's then blew away an opportunity to swell the lead as he was cleverly tackled by the rival goalkeeper.
