Sporting Clube down Dempo to enter semis

In the last league match of Group B played at Don Bosco grounds on Sunday, Sporting Clube de Goa beat their city rivals Dempo SC 2-0 to enter the play-offs of the GFA U-18 League.

Needing a win to qualify and with their rivals needing only a draw, Sporting Clube de Goa went in the attack mode right from the word go, but had to wait till the 35th minute to take the lead. A well taken corner by Desmond Fernandes was headed down by Joston Fernandes and Trijoy Dias tapped in to give Sporting a deserving lead.

Jason Goankar made the game safe for Sporting with a strike in the 76th minute. Jason latched onto a through ball from Skipper Cassel D Souza and out pacing two Dempo defenders got the better of keeper to find the back of the nets.

With this win Sporting Clube de Goa took the second qualifying spot from group B after Sesa Football Academy. Salgaocar FC and Churchill Brothers SC have qualified from Group A.
