Cuncolim Union hammer Cortalim Villagers 5-2

Cuncolim Union secured a comfortable 5-2 win over Cortalim Villagers SA in their GFA 2nd Division play-offs for the South Goa zone at Rosary grounds, Navelim on Monday.

Samson Simoes struck a first half hat-trick which set the tone for a comprehensive win. He went on to score two more in the second half as they qualified for the state play-off .
Cuncolim Union drew first blood through Samson Simoes who opened the scoring in the 24th minute 
of the game. 
It was one-way traffic from there on as Cuncolim Union were in total domination of the game. 
It didn’t take long for the second goal as Samson found the net again in the 37th minute of the game. Samson managed to complete his hat-trick in the 39th minute as Cuncolim went into half-time with a 
3-0 lead.
In the second half, Cuncolim picked up from where they left off as Samson latched onto a quick pass from the back before looping the ball over the goalkeeper and tapped the ball into the net. Cortalim struggled to get out of their own box as Cuncolim kept searching 
for goals. 
Samson was on a golden run and he scored his fifth goal in the 54th minute when he curled a goal from the left flank as the goalkeeper was caught out 
of position.
Cortalim scored two consolation goals in the 88th and 90th minute after a sequence of defensive lapses by the Cuncolim defence which was punished by Francis Tavores who tapped the ball into the net before MacKenzie Figueiredo scored with the final kick of the game.
With this win, Cuncolim Union finished their league with 6 points from 3 matches while Cortalim Villagers suffered third defeat and have no points to 
show for.

YC Manora top South Goa GFA 2nd Division

Youth Club of Manora maintained an all-win record to lift the South Goa title in the GFA Second Division League play-off as they thumped Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 3-0 at Government School playgrounds, Cuncolim on Monday. There was no score at the lemon- break.
