Executive Engineer GTDC Nandkumar Acharya has inspected the ancient rocks, which were allegedly destroyed on Chandranath hills, Paroda, and has observed that some of the boulders in front of the temple premises have been broken.

He was reacting to reports in a section of the media which state that the Paroda temple mahajans have filed a complaint against the GTDC.

The GTDC said it had initiated work of beautification of Chandreshwar Bhutnath Temple at a cost of Rs 4.61 crore to upgrade and  provide facilities for the tourists visiting the temple on the request of the Paroda temple official committee. The work is in progress since December 2016 and is being implemented with the consent of the temple committee, it reiterated.

On immediate receipt of the complaint, GTDC issued a notice to the contractor M/s City Contractions on the violation of the tender conditions without consent of the GTDC officials as the location where reportedly the rocks are broken is not within the scope of the work. The GTDC has pointed out that the contractor has exceeded the brief and violated the contract terms. GTDC has decided to take strict action against the contractor and a show-cause notice has been issued. The damages so done will be recovered from the contractor and the site restored, GTDC assured.

The GTDC also assured its commitment to protecting history and heritage of the State which is its core pillar and strength on account of the tourism industry. The GTDC has said it will closely monitor the beautification work of the temple henceforth and ensure that it will be completed to the satisfaction of the locals and temple authorities after the inquiry is completed.
