YC Manora top South Goa GFA 2nd Division

Youth Club of Manora maintained an all-win record to lift the South Goa title in the GFA Second Division League play-off as they thumped Velsao Sports and Cultural Club 3-0 at Government School playgrounds, Cuncolim on Monday. There was no score at the lemon- break.

MARGAO

Youth Club of Manora did dominate the opening session and were rewarded with an opportunity to surge ahead when Valito Miranda’s thumping header went straight into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper Clinton Silva via a flag kick taken by Darren Fernandes.
Shortly after Daren Fernandes’ shot  was aimed to catch the rival custodian off position any further threat was  defused by the rival defence.
At the other end, Velsao Sports and Cultural Club who were overshadowed in the first 45minutes were restricted to their own half and seldom troubled the rival defence.
Crossing over, Youth Club of Manora continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges and had to wait till the 60th minute to tke the lead through Daren Fernandes.
Benson Fernandes from the right floated the ball inside the rival penalty box and the lurking Daren Fernandes beat the rival goalkeeper Clinton Silva hands down. Youth Club of Manora goalkeeper Savio Paes had an off day at the office as he was hardly tested by the rival attackers.
Almost couple of minutes later, Benson Fernandes headed out an open goal following a chip from Schubert Colaco. In the 80th minute, Youth Club of Manora’s second goal came about.  Substitute Swiwel Pereira out-paced his markers, feinted past the a rival defender and unleashed a venomous shot in the goal which found the light of the day for Manora team as the scoreline read 2-0.
At the stroke of full time, substitute Jaison Fernandes fired the last nail into rival coffin as the scoreline read 3-0. The full time score  also read as the same as Youth Club of Manora qualified for the state play off along side  Cuncolim Union. Youth Club of Manora finished their engagements with a 100 per cent  win record.
