St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva shunted out Margao Sports Club 5-4 via tiebreaker to win the All Goa 5th St Sebastian inter village football tournament organized by St Sebastian Union Club, Benaulim at St John the Baptist Dando Ground, Benaulim on Sunday. There was no score at full time.

Margao Sports Club struck the right rhythm and had a chance to surge ahead when striker Necil Pinto received the ball from Cliff Baretto and the former shot wide much to the disbelief of Margao supporters in the very 4th minute. rAt the other end, St Anthony’s slowly fell into the groove and striker Keith Rodrigues out-paced his marker and unleashed a snap shot which was well blocked by Margao goalkeeper Swizel Pereria.rThe second half saw both the teams showing urgency and went all out in search of the elusive match winner but rival defenders put paid to all their chances as they stood tall in protecting their citadel. rWith the time running out both the teams had chances but their forwards misfired from close range, much to the dismay of their supporters.rWith the deadlock prevailing, the tie-breaker system had to be employed as St Anthony’s Sports Club emerged victors because of their superior striking skills. rIn the ensuing penalty shoot out Joseph Pereira, Maxon Fernandes, Rony Fernandes,Nelson Gomes and Baptist Fernandes were on target for the Colva team while Valito Miranda, Necil rPinto, Danny Dias and Francis Andrade converted for Margao Sports Club. St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva were richer by Rs 40,000 and took home a glittering rtrophy while Margao Sports Club had to settle for Rs 30,000 and the runners-up trophy. rBenaulim MLA Churchill Alemao was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries. rZico Costa welcomed the guests and later proposed a vote of thanks. rThe function was compered by Anthony Rodrigues. There were 16 teams in fray.
