St Jude HS of Betalbatim, Holy Spirit Institute of Margao and Perpetual Succour Convent HS of Navelim moved ahead in the U-14 Salcete Taluka inter school football tournament organised by DSYA at SAG ground, Dramapur.
St Jude HS defeated Govt HS of Vidyanagar by comfortable margin of seven goals. Rosendo Fernandes scored hat-trick, Kuldeep Killu scored a brace while Matesh Kuppuligiri and Ransley Fernandes scored a goal each. In the second match, Holy Spirit Institute defeated The Cresent HS of Fatorda 5-1.
Tushar Iwale and Shubhankar Karmakar scored a brace each while Hussain Sayed accounted one goal for Holy Spirit. Abdulla Nandgadkar reduced the margin for The Cresent HS. In the third match, Perpetual Succour Convent HS of Navelim defeated OL of Health HS of Cuncolim 4-1. Jade Pires scored two goals while Emanuel Gama and Taufique Shaikh scored one goal each for Perpetual. The lone goal for OL of Health HS was scored by Mac Fernandes.
Captain Trophy chess at Chicalim on July 17
Mormugao Taluka chess association will be organising its July edition Taluka level open chess tournament Captain Trophy on July 17 at DSYA Chicalim Sport complex hall, Airport road.
The tournament will be played under the Swiss league system with 6 rounds with the time control of 25 mins +5 sec inc from move one. Top 5 players will be awarded with cash prize and trophy. The top 10 players will be awarded with trophies.
Category prizes will be given in the age group of U-7, -9, -11, -13 (1 boy + 1 girl) and also best veteran and best woman above 15 will be eligible for a prize. The entry fee is Rs 200 and it has to be paid online to the MTCA. Players will have to fill a Google form, attach the payment receipt and submit. The reporting time is 8.45 am on July 17.
