Top seed Aditee Prabhugaonkar, Riddhi Zantye, Swera Braganza and Gunjal Chopdekar are in the joint lead with 2 points each after the second round of the State Women’s Chess Championship organized by JCI St Inez under the aegis of Tiswadi Taluka and Goa Chess Association and in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa.
They are joined by Tanvi Hadkonkar, Sakshi Naik Gaonkar, Alaina Pereira and Urvi Bandekar who are also with 2 points each. The championship is currently underway at SAG Conference Hall, Indoor stadium, Campal. Panaji MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony while ex CCP Mayor Vaidehi Naik, WIM Ivana Furtado, Mahesh Khandolkar (President of Tiswadi Taluka Association), Arvind Mhamal (Chief Arbiter), Sahil Kamat (President, JCI St Inez), arbiters D Pinge and P Bala and championship coordinator Sandeep Heble also graced the occasion.
Ivana Furtado who won bronze at the recently concluded Asian Junior Chess Championship was felicitated on the occasion for her meritorious performance.
