Tilamola fail to turn up for 3rd Division finals

Disappointment was writ large on the faces of football fans as the promised GFA Third Division League Final (Salcete Zone) at DSYA Grounds, Curtorim on Monday turned out to a damp squib simply because one of the teams - Tilamola United Sports Club - played truant.

Varca Sports Club and supervising officials waited for Tilamola United Sports Club to arrive at the ground. However, when the Tilamola team failed to arrive at the venue, the supervising official had no other option but to call off the match. Sources said that Tilamola United Sports Club were yet to receive the intimation about the final from GFA. Soccer buffs who turned at the venue to witness the match termed the whole episode as “disappointing”. “It is not only a bad advertisement for Indian football but also for Goan football,” they remarked. “I don’t know whose fault it is. All I want to say that this is bad. This should never have happened. I don’t know how things can be bettered. This is indeed appalling,” a soccer fan said.
