Top seed Rishan Shaikh will face second seed Chandan Caro in the Under-17 Boys final, while the duo also advanced to the summit clash of the Under-19 Boys category at the YMCA Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament underway at the Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Organised by YMCA Panjim in aegis with the Goa Table Tennis Association, the tournament saw some spirited performances from the rising junior paddlers before the top two seeds surged through with clinical performances.
In the U17 Boys quarterfinals, Rishan outplayed Yug Prabhu (6) 3-0, Chinmay Bakhare overcame Surendra Chube 3-1, Dhruva Kamat (3) stopped Ruhaan Shaikh 3-0, and Chandan (2) blanked Dhruv Kanji 3-0.
The semifinals saw Rishan secure a hard fought 3-1 win over Chinmay, while Chandan stormed past Dhruva 3-0 to set up a high-voltage final.
Meanwhile, in the U19 Boys quarters, Chandan (1) got the better of Surendra Chube 3-0, Ruhaan Shaikh (4) upset Dhruva Kamat (3) 3-1, Rishan advanced past Vedant Wagle via walkover, and Yug Prabhu outplayed Chinmay 3-0.
The semifinals saw both top seeds in commanding form, with Chandan sweeping past Ruhaan 3-0 and Rishan dispatching Yug 3-0, ensuring a repeat showdown in the U19 title clash.
