In a commanding display of football prowess, Churchill Brothers FC riding on Trijoy Dias' form orchestrated an emphatic 6-2 victory over Young Boys of Tonca in the GFA Professional League, at SAG Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Thursday.
Right from the outset, Churchill Brothers asserted their dominance with an aggressive style of play that set the tone for the entire match. The initial opportunity materialized and in the 11th minute striker Trijoy Dias unleashed a looping shot that sailed over the rival goalkeeper and dipped perfectly into the net off Mackenzie Fernandes' assist.
Throughout the game, Churchill Brothers adept control of possession posed a formidable challenge for Young Boys of Tonca FC who struggled to seize momentum against the relentless Churchill Brothers FC.
The intensity escalated when Trijoy Dias slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot off well measured cross from Mackenzie Fernandes' through pass at the stroke of the lemon break.
The second half witnessed a thunderous start for Churchill Brothers FC but Young Boys of Tonca rocked the rival citadel in the 59th minute when Harshad Naik bulged the net. Churchill Brothers went into attacking mode and Trijoy registered his hat-trick off a pass from Pushkar Prabhu in the 62th minute. In the 66th minute, Young Boys of Tonca pulled one more goal through Salu Santos whose placement caught the rival goalkeeper on wrong foot.
Churchill Brothers FC equally determined with an intensfied drive saw Joebern Cardozo add his name on the scorer list in the 64th minute. Pushkar Prabhu punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 70th minute. Joebern Cardozo who was in thick action drove the last nail into the rival coffin in the 77th minute.
In the end, Churchill Brothers FC skillful and dynamic performance secured a resounding victory, leaving Young Boys of Tonca with much to ponder in their future matches.
