United Boys of Ambaulim cruised into the quarterfinals of the 19th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, organized by Guirdolim Club, with a commanding 3“0 victory over CRC Chinchinim at the Chandor Church Sports Complex.
Ambaulim's early pressure paid off in the 6th minute, when Visiton Fernandes opened the scoring with a precise grounder from the top of the box, leaving the Chinchinim goalkeeper with no chance.
Just five minutes later, Ambaulim doubled their lead. A misplaced backpass by a Chinchinim defender was pounced on by Teron Fernandes, who smartly rounded the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into an empty net to make it 2“0.
The third goal came in the 13th minute through Malquiol Oliveira, who showed fine awareness to spot the goalkeeper off his line and calmly lob the ball into the net, extending Ambaulim’s lead to 3“0.
After the break, Chinchinim’s woes deepened in the 50th minute, when their goalkeeper was shown a red card for handling the ball outside the box in a one-on-one situation, denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. However, Ambaulim couldn’t capitalize on the numerical advantage, and the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Alex Fernandes, the energetic Ambaulim midfielder, was named Player of the Match, and received his award from Sudesh Bhise, President of Guirdolim Club.
