United Boys of Ambaulim were crowned champions after defeating Curtorim Gymkhana 2–0 in the final of the Late Manuel Joao Pereira & Late Menino Santan Fonseca Trophy, organised by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim, on Sunday.
UB Ambaulim opened the scoring in the 25th minute through Sowell Fernandes. They extended their lead in the 50th minute when Alex Fernandes found the net, ensuring a comfortable victory and sealing the title.
The awards were presented in the presence of chief guest Luizinho Faleiro. The event was also attended by guest of honour Rev. Fr. Gabriel Coutinho (Parish Priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim), along with Rev. Fr. William D’Souza (Assistant Parish Priest), Avertano Furtado (former minister of Goa), Mario Pereira (Dream House Builder), Maxton Fonseca (social worker), Malifa Cardozo (Z.P. member, Navelim), Paul Pereira (Sarpanch, V.P. Navelim), Minguel Cardozo (Panch, V.P. Navelim), and Anthony Pango, Senior Vice President of GFA, along with executive committee members of the Goa Football Association (South Goa). Other dignitaries present included Gabriel Fernandes, Santosh R. Naik, Constancio P. Rodrigues, and Aluizio Fernandes.
