Rossman Cruz Nagoa Sports Club Verna defeated St Sebastian Sports Club Mapusa 4-2 via tiebreaker to move into the next round of the 23rd Vagator Soccer 2023 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, on Thursday.
Rossman Cruz took the lead at the half-hour mark when Savio Fernandes scored from a right-footed curler towards the far post. In the second half, St Sebastian went close to finding the equalizer when Aires Fernandes' grounder had the Rossman goalkeeper in a spot of bother but he managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 57th minute, a through ball by Savio Pereira found teammate Desmond Pereira, whose powerful shot hit the woodwork.
St Sebastian Mapusa levelled the score in the 64th minute when Shivanand Naik found the back of the net with a neat placement shot. The scoreline was 1-1 and the tiebreaker was implemented.
Desmond Pereira, Savio Fernandes, Savio Pereira and Christo D'melo scored for Rossman Cruz Nagoa Verna while only Edwin Viegas and Jonas D'souza converted for Sebastian SC Mapusa.
The man-of-the-match prize was awarded to Savio Fernandes of Rossman Cruz by Prashal Naik Dessai.
