MARGAO: Vasco Veterans booked their place in the next round of the 1st All Goa Late Alvernaz & Lalush Memorial Veterans Football Tournament with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Calangute Veterans at the Varca Ground on Monday.
Mario Coelho emerged as the match-winner for Vasco Veterans, scoring both goals in an impressive display. His brace gave Vasco a firm grip on the contest, while Marcus Carvalho netted the lone goal for Calangute Veterans.
Vasco held a slender 1-0 advantage at the half-time break before Mario Coelho struck again in the second half to double the lead. Calangute responded through Marcus Carvalho to reduce the deficit, but despite a determined late push, they were unable to find the equaliser.
