Wasteful FC Bardez held by Churchill

FC Bardez were the dominant side and could have won by at least four goals. Their Nigerian substitute striker Koko Sakibo squandered at least five good chances. FC Bardez had a chance to break the deadlock in the 15th minute when Alesh Sawant unleashed a snap shot that deflected from rival defenders and later Shubham Raut Dessai's carpet shot was well blocked by Churchill Brothers goalkeeper Aliston Fernandes. FC Bardez captain Peter Carvalho also tested the rival goalkeeper with a header off a Jesel Carneiro cross.

At the other end, Churchill Brothers did not have a single shot on goal in the first half and found the net in the 32nd minute when Pankaj Sona put the ball in off a free kick taken by Suraj. However, referee Shaikh Abboo disallowed the goal for a foul on a rival player.

FC Bardez wasted another chance when Sakibo failed to tap in an open chance with only goalkeeper Aliston to beat, shooting it wide. FC Bardez had another chance when Yinka Joel Sunday won the ball in his own half and played it down for Sakibo, who again shot wide of the target.

Post resumption, FC Bardez continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges. However it was Churchill Brothers who created a scare when Aldrich Coelho found striker Pankaj Sona free inside the rival box and the last named unleashed a stiff shot which brushed the fingers of FC Bardez goalkeeper Mirshad and hit the post. In the 65th minute, Girish Naik sent a defence splitting pass to Saikibo, who again disappointed the supporters with his shot.

The best chance for FC Bardez again fell to Sakibo but he failed to guide an inviting flag kick by Jessel Carneiro into the net. In the 80th minute, Sunday found Sakibo inside the box but the latter's finish was way off mark with goalkeeper Aliston at his mercy.

The draw means FC Bardez move up to 20 points from 13 matches while Churchill Brothers now have 12 points from 13 matches.
