Goa’s Yash Fadte has won the Indian Squash Academy Junior Open Squash Championship 2018 in Chennai.
This is the second time that 16-year-old Yash has won this major event. He had won this tournament previously in 2014 under-13 section. Yash was the 4th seed in the under-17 event and in the finals, Yash beat Diwakar Singh (Delhi) 11-7,11-5,11-6. The Vasco lad outplayed the number 1 seed Sankalp Anand (Delhi) 3-0 in the semi-finals after beating the 5th-seeded Advait Adik (Maharashtra) 3-0 in the quarter-finals.
In the entire tournament Yash, did not drop a single set. As Yash finished first in the world junior selection trials which was held last week in Chennai and didn’t drop a single match in the tournament, he has been selected to represent India at the World Junior Squash Championship to be held at Chennai in July. For that, he will be attending a camp from the June 17 to July 6.
