Goa's Yash Phadte has qualified for the Indian team for the Asian junior squash championship 2016 which is going to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September. The selection was held at the Indian squash academy, Chennai. During the selection, Yash was at the top position of his pool. In the first match, first match he defeated Askash Gupta of Maharashtra 11-2, 11-3, 11-6. Next up was Kanav Nanavati of Tamil Nadu whom he defeated 11-3, 11-5, 11-4. Next up was Delhi boy Tejas Chawla who suffered a 11-8, 11-6, 11-4 loss against Yash. Neel Joshi of Maharashtra then lost next 11-8, 11-8, 11-3. In the play-offs for the top 4, Yash beat Chandigarh boy Prithvi Singh 11-7, 11-6, 11-4.
