Agxem Sports Club secured victory in the Late Roque Fernandes Memorial Trophy 9-a-side football, triumphing over United Club Unjirim with a 1-0 win in the finals of the tournament organized by Fondegal Sports Club.
The final unfolded at St Alex Church ground in Curorim on Sunday, drawing a sizeable crowd to witness the action.
Both teams exhibited determination and skill throughout the fast-paced finals, presenting a balanced contest with ample opportunities to score. The decisive goal came from the boots of Michael Paes from Agxem Sports Club during the first session of play. Despite United Club Unjirim's efforts in the second session to level the terms, the score remained unchanged.
Agxem also missed chances to extend their lead and the match concluded with the team holding onto their first-half advantage until the final whistle, clinching the winners' trophy.
Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, MLA of Curtorim, graced the occasion as the chief guest, presenting prizes in the presence of Fr Manuel Dias and other dignitaries alongside club officials.
