Agxem SC advanced to the next round of the 9-a-side Curtorim Interward Football Tournament 2026 after edging past Batora United 6-5 via tie-breaker at the St Alex Church ground, Curtorim. The tournament is being organised by Sporting Club Virabhat.
Batora United opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Edmon Dias to take a 1-0 lead. Agxem SC created several scoring opportunities in the first half but failed to find the net.
After the break, both teams launched attacking moves but could not convert their chances. Agxem SC finally restored parity in the dying moments of the match when Alroy Gomes scored in the 65th minute to level the score at 1-1.
With the match ending in a draw, the winner was decided through a tie-breaker, where Agxem SC prevailed 5-4 to seal a 6-5 victory overall.
Despite ending on the losing side, Edmon Dias of Batora United was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by Diago Fernandes, former player of Sporting Club Virabhat.
In another match, Cumborda SC progressed after registering a thrilling 3-2 victory over Damdolem SC.
Cumborda SC opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Rio Fernandes to take a 1-0 lead. Damdolem SC responded quickly as Anthony Cardozo found the equaliser in the 20th minute, leaving the teams locked 1-1 at halftime.
In the second half, Cumborda regained the lead in the 40th minute when Mackson Fernandes scored after receiving a fine pass from Melvin Fernandes. Rio Fernandes then struck again in the 45th minute to extend Cumborda’s advantage to 3-1.
Damdolem SC attempted a comeback with Ryan Fernandes reducing the margin in the 47th minute, but Cumborda SC held firm till the final whistle to seal a 3-2 win.
