Favourites Ambelim SC made short work of Chandor SC by scoring a 2-0 win to enter the semifinals of II Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup, organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim.
Ambelim's bunch of young footballers led by their captain Perryson Fernandes were very effective on the right flank with Semson Fernandes dribbling on the line and crossing the ball time & again. However, Nash Pinto & Jarel D'Silva failed to control the ball & were easily dispossessed by Cruz Gomes & Sevaraj D'Costa who were outstanding in the Chandor defence.
Ambelim took the lead when Rozwin Fernandes shot the ball in the Chandor penalty area which was missed by Chandor defender Fayden Pereira allowing Semson Fernandes to sneak in and shoot the ball into the goal from hand-shaking distance.
In the second half, Ambelim forwards had a major share of the attack. Perryson took a throw from the left sideline which was headed by Nash Pinto to Arvind Fernandes on the sideline who crossed the ball to Jarel D'Silva to tap the ball in, with goal-keeper Akram Yadwad out of position to take a 2-0 lead and take Ambelim into the semis.
