Sonics Basketball Club, Porvorim, with their freeflowing game emerged victorious over the YMCA Knights 47-31 backed by a stellar performance by Shaun Araujo with 20 points in the inaugural Edmund Rice Cup Basketball Tournament, organised by Regina Mundi Basketball Association.
Thirteen teams participated in the All Goa men’s basketball tournament at Regina Mundi School, Chicalim. Sonics beat DBO Fatorda and the YMCA Knights overcame a spirited performance by Lourdes, and Saligao to set up the summit clash.
An exhibition game of women's teams was played between InfiKnights, Panaji and Sonics, Porvorim. Arthur D’Souza was named the MVP of the tournament for his skilful playmaking for the Sonics. All prizes were given away by the chief guest, Br Sebastian, headmaster of Regina Mundi School.
