Benaulim Veterans triumphed over Carmona Veterans 7-4 in a thrilling tiebreaker to advance to the next round of the Benaulim Constituency Veterans Football Tournament at Varca Ground on Sunday. The match saw Benaulim Veterans take the lead with three goals ” Casmiro scoring a brace and Luis adding another. For Carmona Veterans, Neil netted a brace and Danny scored once, levelling the match. In the tiebreaker, Benaulim Veterans showcased superior shooting skills, ultimately securing their victory and progressing further in the competition.
Davaidnya Cricket Cup 2025 from March 1
PANAJI: The Akhil Gomantakiya Daivadnya Brahmin Youth Association (AGDBYA) is all set to host the 7th edition of the Davaidnya Cricket Cup 2025, scheduled for March 1 and 2, at the SAG cricket ground in Fatorda. The tournament will feature 14 teams from across Goa, including two women's teams, competing for the title.
A special event marking the launch of the official jerseys for the tournament took place on Saturday in Margao. The function was attended by key sponsors, including "Swaroop" VS Raikar Jewellers from Margao, Lotlikars Jewellers from Mapusa, Sanvi Jewels from Margao, Ramakant Jewellers from Margao, Atreya Gold & Diamonds by Jayesh Jewellers from Bicholim, M/s Saishradha Construction from Verem, Audumbar E Pingulkar, and Hotel Cosmique, Margao. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the tournament’s jerseys and caps, which was done by the sponsors. Additionally, the tournament trophies were revealed by Sahil Lotliker, Secretary, AGDBYA, and Rahul Lotliker, Treasurer, AGDBYA.
Vintage car, bike exhibition held at Fatorda
MARGAO: A vintage car and bike exhibition, organised by the Tuff Riders Club in collaboration with CVCAC, proved to be a major attraction as it drew large and enthusiastic crowds to the SGPDA Ground in Fatorda for the ‘Wheels of Liberty 2025’ event. The exhibition had 37 four-wheelers and 40 two-wheelers, including iconic vintage vehicles that captured the attention of all who attended. Among the standout exhibits was a 1974 Lambretta scooter, which drew a considerable amount of attention. The event also offered a variety of activities, with guidance from Ibrahim Thaker. Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai graced the event as the chief guest, while Savio Coutinho, former chairperson of the Margao Municipal Council, attended as the guest of honour. Zarina Shah, former Margao councillor, was also present as a special invitee.
