Betalbatim Sporting Club scored a hard fought 3-1 win over Dunes Sports Club to move into the quarterfinals of 16th London Trophy inter-village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club, at Goa Velha Sports Club ground.
Dunes Sports Club surged ahead in the very first minute through Arun Naik who headed into the Betalbatim Sporting Club goal giving no chance to the Betalbatim keeper. Betalbatim Sporting Club fought back and restored parity through Selroy Fernandes midway in the first half. Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the lemon break.
Oliver D'Souza put Betalbatim ahead to make it 2-1 when his effort landed into the Dunes nets. Dunes Sports Club retaliated and kept attacking for the much needed equaliser but their strikers let them down. Gladson Braganza made the issue safe and sealed the victory for Betalbatim SC when he shot past the Dunes keeper into the net in the dying minutes of the match.
Dickson Rogtao was awarded the man of the match by Lino Mendes, Member of Goa Velha Sports Club and representative of Villagers of Goa Velha based in the United Kingdom.
