MARGAO
The Immaculate Conception Parish Youth of Betul, with the support of the Goa Football Development Council (GFDC), inaugurated a two-week Football Camp for U-15 boys and girls on October 16, at Tollecanto Stadium, Betul. The camp, which runs until October 30, aims to nurture young talent, promote sportsmanship, and provide structured training and exposure to the sport.
The inaugural ceremony began at 6:30 a.m. with a warm welcome by Fr. Roque da Costa, Parish Priest of Betul, who introduced the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Romeu Godinho”Dean of the Chinchinim Deanery and Parish Priest of Assolna Church, and former Director of the Diocesan Catechetical Centre, Old Goa. Fr. Godinho officially inaugurated the camp with a ceremonial kick-off and, in his address, encouraged the participants to “train hard and win hearts,” urging them to stay disciplined and play with passion and team spirit.
Marcus Simoes, a catechist of Betul Parish, commended the Parish Youth for their initiative and thanked the coordinators and coaches for their dedication. He encouraged the young players to attend the camp regularly and give their best effort.
The camp is being conducted by two experienced coaches” Riddesh Madgaonkar from Navelim, a seasoned football mentor, and Clency Miranda from Betul, a nationally recognized player who has represented Goa multiple times. Both coaches bring a wealth of knowledge and commitment to developing grassroots football.
During the inauguration, Madgaonkar shared a motivational message, urging the young participants to “learn something new, try something different, evolve, and most importantly, have fun.”
