BSC United defeated MSC Morgim by a solitary goal to win the Morgim Premier League Soccer, played at Morgim grounds under floodlights.
The winner was scored by Sanmesh Raul with a neat placement. The tournament was played in a league format, where along with the finalists, FC Poppya and Satpurush FC qualified for the super round.
Individual prizes were awarded to: Best goalkeeper - Ashish Gadekar of MSC, Best defender - Vivek Kanulkar of BSC, Best midfielder - Siddha Mandrekar of MSC, Emerging player of the tournament - Sanmesh Raul of BSC, Player of the series - Rishikesh (Vicky) Shetgaonker of BSC, Fairplay award - Temb Predators.
Chief guest Dayanand Sopte, the Mandrem MLA and chairman of GTDC, in his speech, urged the Morjim villagers to show their unity in the field of sports and assured his help in promoting football by improving the infrastructure required for the same. Twelve teams and 216 registered players took part in the football league under the guidance of the organising secretary Anant (Dada) Sawal.
Also present were Satish Shetgaonkar, ZP member of Morjim, special invitee Vaishali Shetgaonker, Sarpanch of VP Morjim, Arjun (Ratnakar) Shetgaonker, ex-Sarpanch, Machchhindranat Shetgaonker, ex-Panch, Panch member Vilas Morje, Prakash Shirodkar, Tushar Shetgaonker, Sampada Shetgaonker and deputy Sarpanch Amit Shetgaonker.
The organising committee members, Bharat Morje, Suresh (Balgo) Shetgaonker and Gangesh Parwar were also present for the prize distribution function. Match referees Amit Fernandes, Amir Chandroji and Shantaram Thakkar officiated in the tournament. Kalpesh Fondekar proposed a vote of thanks.
