MARGAO: Carmona Sports Club edged past St Rock's Youth Club, Majorda 2-1 in the GFA'S Third Division league at John the Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim on Tuesday .
Carmona started as strong favourites and raided the rival citadel and their efforts bore the fruits in the 22nd minute when Brenson Fernandes rocked the rival citadel with a snap shot. Spurred by the lead, Carmona Sports Club intensfied their attacks but their forwards misfired from close range.
At the other end, St Rock's Youth Club injected so much and they were all over Carmona area. After the restart they were subdued lot and hardly tested the rival goalkeeper and in the 49th minute, Myron Pereira beat the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot to level the score. Stunned by the equaliser, Carmona Sports Club regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and in the 56th minute Darren Estibeiro struck the match winner. Stung by that reversal, St Rock's Youth Club went all out but rival defenders were quick and averted the danger.
