Varca entered the last eight by defeating Mandopa SC via tiebreaker in the Cavelossim Panchayat Rolling Trophy Inter-village Football Tournament at Fr Druston and Wellington ground Cavelossim on Thursday. In a match dominated by midfielders, there were very few opportunities for both teams to score. In the 30th minute, Nash Dias of Varca shot a grounder which was punched out of the goal by Mandopa keeper Jeet Gupta. The teams crossed over at lemon time with a 0-0 scoreline. In the second half, Ronaldo Pereira's curling shot from out of the box hit the crossbar and bounced back into play. In the tiebreaker, Constancio, Alan, Landon and Yunal scored for Varca while Ronaldo, Wellington, and Nevin scored for Mandopa. Eriston and Joyston's shots were saved by Varca keeper Mahammad Shaikh, who was awarded the Man of the Match.
Mount Mary's beat Our Lady of Perpetual Succour
MARGAO: Mount Mary's High School Chinchinim made short work of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School Cortalim to win 2-0 in the final of the 1st All Goa Our Lady of Carmel Inter-school Football Tournament at DSYA ground, Curtorim. Mount Mary's High School scored in the 13th minute through Sohil Shaikh in the first half. In the second half, Mount Mary's doubled their lead through Sohil Shaikh in the 34th minute. Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School Cortalim tried hard but their efforts went in vain.
