Hosts CES College overwhelmed Government Multipurpose College, Borda 6-0 in the final to win the inter-college football tournament Cuncolim Education Society (CES) College at Government School playground in Cuncolim on Saturday.
Adopting to their usual aggressive methods, Ivo converted a penalty in the 2nd minute before Livon Dias netted two goals in the 21st and 26th minutes. Continuing their aggressive approach, CES were rewarded in the 35th minute when Livon beat the Borda goalkeeper to register his hat-trick.
A wily Livon then scored an opportunistic goal to increase the tally to 5-0 in the 48th minute. In the 50th minute, Varkey drove the last nail into the rival coffin, 6-0.
CES College received a prize of Rs 15,000 at the hands of Savio Madeira, Technical Director of GFA and co-opted member, in the presence of Prakash Dessai, secretary of CES, Videsh Virendra Dessai, chairman of CES, Principal Sanjay Sawant Dessai, and College Director of Physical Education and Sports Parvath Naik.
Individual prizes: Man of the final - Livon Dias (CES), Best defender - Godwin Da Costa (CES), Best midfielder - Santosh Vishwa Karma (Govt College, Borda), Top scorer of the tournament - Alent Colaco, Player of the tournament - Ivo Costa, Best disciplined team - Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao.
