Chandor Club defeated Carmona SC 2-1 to win the Lourdes Soccer Cup in the final of the inter-village football tournament at Ambelim ground.
Vilton Fernandes opened the scoring for Chandor in the tenth minute, but the joy was short-lived as Mavern Gracias equalised for Carmona in the 17th minute. As the match progressed into the second half, Valentino doubled the lead for Chandor in the 46th minute. However, a clever move by Mavern Gracias of Carmona saw him equalise again in the 47th minute. It was Valentino of Chandor who ultimately scored the match-winning goal in the 59th minute.
The individual prizes awarded were as follows: Best Defender - Joaquim Carvalho of Chandor Club, Best Striker - Maven Gracias of Carmona SC, Best Midfielder - Silden Piexitto of Chandor Club.
Fr Romeo Godinho was the chief guest and presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Camilo Dias, Fr Shawn D'Silva, Jacinto D'Silva, Benjamin Silva, John Silva (football promoter of Ambelim), other dignitaries, and club officials.
