Cuncolim Union scored a huge victory over a fighting Young Strikers Club Benaulim by 4-1 in the pre-quarterfinal match of the Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim and played at Fr Druston and Wellington ground Cavelossim. The match came alive when Sandeep Desai latched on to a through ball by Trijoy Dias in the very second minute to put Cuncolim Union 1-0 ahead. Benaulim fought back and dominated the game in the next quarter and in the 15th minute a through ball by Arif Pathan was cleverly controlled by Joswan Cardozo who received the ball onto his chest and made no mistake before shooting into the left corner of the goal beating the Cuncolim keeper to level the score at 1-1. In the second half, Keegan Fernandes of Cuncolim Union restored the lead with a solo effort finding the top corner of the goal to make the score 2-1. Towards the end, Daulat Desai and Sandeep Desai scored a goal each to take their team into the quarter-finals with the final score at 4-1.
