In a spectacular display of dominance, Cuncolim Union secured a resounding 3-1 victory against Youth Club of Manora, in the GFA's First Division league, at SAG trinity ground, Benaulim, on Thursday.
Cuncolim Union led 2-0 at half time. From the opening whistle, Cuncolim Union set the tone with relentless aggression, creating multiple scoring opportunities early on. The attacking duo of Hanslum Furtado and Daulat Dessai posed constant threats, narrowly missing out on goals However, Cuncolim Union's persistence paid off in the 10th minute when Adarash Rajan broke through the offside trap to slot the ball into the top right corner.
Building on their momentum, Cuncolim Union extended their lead as defemder Samson Gomes converted the spot kick in the first half injury timescoring another goal for his team and taking the lead to 2-0.
The second half saw the Manora team resiliently defend against Cuncolim's attacks, showcasing commendable defensive efforts. Some good goalkeeping, Cuncolim Union put the issue beyond doubt when striker Daulat Dessai slotted past the rival goalkeeper in the 66th minute. Down by 0-3, Youth Club of Manora intensfied their attacks and were rewarded when Eldon Colaco punted the ball to the far corner of the net in the 80th minute.
With this commanding win, Cuncolim Union solidify its position in the League, leaving an indelible mark on the league.
At Rosary Ground, Navelim, In a one-sided encounter, Dempo Sports Club register a convincing 9-0 win over Velsao Sports and Cultural Club.
Dempo started attacking right from the beginning of the game by hitting the post a couple of times. In the early stages, Dempo opened the floodgates in the 24th minute when Swavel Furtado punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement. Vedanta Gadekar doubled the lead in the 30th minute. Murphy Fernandes inflated the lead in the 35th minute while Naythan Mistico made it 4-0.
Dempo continued to attack relentlessly and in the 78th minute the forwards combined to produce the goals as Ishan Mittal made it 5-0. Leo Gomindes added his name on the scorer-list in the 68th minute. Swavel Furtado flicked the ball to the far corner of the net in the 82nd minute. Ishan Mittal added his name to the scorer-list. Phalithac Mayenkar fired the last nail into coffin in injury time.
