Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda secured a hard-fought 1“0 win over Raia Sporting Club to book their place in the quarterfinals of the inaugural match of the 2nd Late Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy 2026, organised by United Club of Verna at the Verna Village Panchayat Ground on Monday.
Both teams played attacking football from the start, creating chances but failing to break the deadlock, leaving the score 0“0 at halftime. The decisive moment came in the 35th minute when Hanshlum Furtado struck the match-winning goal. Raia Sporting Club pressed for an equaliser, but Patrick D’Souza’s effort from inside the box went wide before the final whistle.
Hanshlum Furtado, the scorer of the winning goal, was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Luis Vaz, President of UC Verna.
