Canacona Sports and Cultural Club edged past Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 4“3 in a thrilling tiebreaker in the inaugural match of the 2nd Vaidya Family Cup 2026 Intervillage Football Tournament, held at the Government School Playground, Cuncolim.

The match ended in a goalless draw during regular play, leading to the decisive tiebreaker. For Canacona Sports and Cultural Club, Yamnursab Pinjor, Sneider Lobo, Velvino Fernandes, and Ronaldo Oliveira scored, while Ashwin Costa, David Colaco, and Aaron Mascarenhas found the net for Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club.

Despite the loss, Ashwin Costa of Sao Jose de Areal was adjudged Man of the Match. The award was presented by Chief Guest and tournament sponsor, sports enthusiast Shailesh Vaidya.
