Dempo Sports Club eased past FC Goa 2-0 in the Goa Professional League at the Dempo Sports Club Academy Ground Ella on Thursday.
Dempo opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Laximanrao Rane pressed high to win back possession from Sitroy Carvalho inside the defensive third and fired a low shot past the keeper at the near post. Before the break Rane turned provider whipping in a precise cross from the left that found Vinay Harji who timed his run perfectly and slotted home on the first touch to double Dempo’s advantage.
Elsewhere Clube De Salgaocar edged out Chapora Yuvak Sangh 2-1 at Duler Stadium on Thursday.
Salgaocar took the lead when Selwyn Miranda pounced on a misjudged cross from the right after the Chapora goalkeeper failed to collect it cleanly allowing Selwyn to finish from close range. The lead was soon doubled when Reezvon Fernandes sent a long ball forward for Selwyn who drove into space and set up Denil at the edge of the box before Isac Zomuanpuia curled a superb shot into the top corner.
Chapora pulled one back through Rohan Kamble who converted from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit but Salgaocar held firm to take all three points. The result keeps Salgaocar four points clear at the top of the table with 12 points from four matches continuing their impressive start to the season.
