Desserts n More Avengers secured a coveted spot in the Rajdeep Builders Sarsangan Super Series Cricket 2024-25 final, defeating DNS VMJ’s Rookies by 21 runs in a high-scoring encounter at Arlem Cricket Ground.
Opting to bat first, the Avengers’ innings ignited with a blistering 83-run opening stand between Sachin Bhandare (37) and Sanat Prabhudesai (38). Despite a brief mid-innings wobble, the Avengers’ batting depth proved decisive. Dr. Sagar Salgaocar (24) contributed, but the late surge, powered by Vaibhav Kadkade (27) and a rapid 35 from skipper Siddhesh Prabhu Alvenkar, propelled them to a formidable 206-4 in 20 overs.
The Rookies, chasing a daunting target, showed resilience. Shivam Varik (37) provided early impetus, but crucial wickets slowed their progress. Pratham Kossambe (32) and Bhushan Kamat Bambolkar (18) briefly revived their hopes, and Rajaram Sinai Kundaikar’s quickfire 36 kept them in contention. However, the Avengers’ disciplined bowling, particularly from Vaibhav Kadkade and Sarin Kane, stifled the chase.
The Rookies finished at 185-7, falling short despite a valiant effort. Vaibhav Kadkade’s all-round performance earned him the Man-of-the-Match award. Sanat Prabhudesai was adjudged Best Batter, and Nimay Kamat, Best Bowler. The Avengers' victory sets up an anticipated final on Sunday.
