A four-wheeler was completely gutted in a fire in Moira on Monday afternoon, resulting in an estimated loss of Rs 6 lakh.
Another nearby vehicle sustained damage, but fire personnel successfully saved property worth Rs 10 lakh.
The fire incident occurred around 3:55 pm when a blaze was first noticed in the bonnet of a parked car. The flames quickly spread, engulfing the vehicle and threatening another vehicle parked nearby. However, timely intervention allowed firefighters to move the second vehicle to safety.
Upon receiving the alert, the Mapusa fire team, led by Suraj Shetgaonkar and supported by firefighters Anand Bandekar, Sunil Banaulikar, Bhagwan Palni and Siddesh Shet, rushed to the scene.
Despite their efforts, the first vehicle was entirely destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The Mapusa police conducted a panchanama and have initiated further investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
