Fatorda Veterans edged past Nuvem Veterans 5-3 in a tense penalty shootout to emerge champions of the 1st All-Goa Inter-Village Veterans Football Tournament, organised by Marc Caterers and played at the Nuvem Church ground on Sunday.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation time. Marcus Carvalho gave Nuvem Veterans the lead before Francisco Colaco equalised for Fatorda.
In the decisive tiebreaker, Fatorda converted through Francisco Andrade, Francisco Colaco, John Araujo, and Fr Mario Noronha. For Nuvem, only Milagres Fernandes and Agnelo Colaco managed to score.
The chief guest for the finals was Francisco Fernandes, ex-vice president of the Goa Football Association and president of FC Siolim. Also present were Luis Vaz, Robert Fernandes, panch member Johnny, Manuel, and other dignitaries.
