Fatorda Veterans booked their spot in the semifinals of the Panjim Veterans Soccer Tournament with a convincing 3-1 win over Just Fitness Veterans at the Taleigao ground.
Francisco Andrade opened the scoring for Fatorda in the 10th minute, finishing a fine cross from Eddie Fernandes. The lead was doubled shortly after by striker Ricardo Carvalho. Fatorda Veterans went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.
Just Fitness Veterans pulled one back in the 50th minute through Paresh Narvekar, who calmly slotted home after a brilliant through-ball from Cruz Pereira, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
Despite a strong push for an equaliser, Just Fitness were denied by the solid defensive unit of Fatorda, marshalled by veterans Anthony Pereira (formerly of Mahindra & Mahindra, Mumbai), Venancio Gonsalves (ex-Sporting Clube de Goa), and Vincent Colaco (former Dempo SC).
Fatorda sealed the win in the dying minutes with a third goal from Milagres.
Socorro Fernandes, former Salgaocar player, was the Chief Guest and presented the Man of the Match award to Dulo Gawas of Just Fitness Veterans.
